Free Patents

Every patent is applicable to a particular intellectual property or a product for a period of 20 years. After this period the authority of the patent lapses and in case the patent is not renewed then the patent is known as free patents. This type of patent can be used by anyone who requires using the service or the product for commercial purposes.

Patent is special grant to a person or an entity for an invention. This is done to protect misuse of the property by someone else or even illegal use of the property. However, patent is not granted without verifying the usefulness of the patent. This implies that the product or the service, which is intended to be patented, should be useful or unique enough to be granted the right.

Free Patents can also be sold if the owner of the patent wishes to get it auctioned or sold. There is a range of patented inventions, which wait to be given to a new owner. Free Patents serve the purpose of distributing or redistributing the patent rights to another owner, which makes the property available to a number of people around the world.
